The new website is still a work in progress as we continue to tweak the design and add items to the website.  As this website is for your benefit, we encourage you to suggest ways to improve the website.  Additionally, we ask that you share information you think other members would be interested in knowing.  For example, let us know about any local woodturning exhibits, notable achievements by club members, or useful websites.  Please forward your suggestions using the “Contact Us” page on the website.Although the design is new, the address is the same:  www.centralohiowoodturners.org.

A HANDS ON SEGMENTING CLASS WITH

Mark Waninger

LIMITED TO 6 PARTICIPANTS PER DAY

JULY 5TH, 6TH & 7TH

9:00AM – 4:00PM

At the shop of Barbara Crockett – 3857 Clearview Ave. Columbus, Ohio 43220  614/638-7113

$125.00 which includes lunch and all materials

This is an entry level segmenting class which is accessible to nearly everyone

We are hoping to fill three classes. One on Friday, one Saturday and possibly a third on Sunday if there is sufficient interest.  On the sign-up form please indicate which days you CANNOT attend so I can accommodate as many of your requests as possible. This will be a fun class. If you have never tried segmenting, Mark will make it accessible to everyone. Mark lives in the Indianapolis area and makes high end custom millwork.  All of this experience makes his joinery as well as finish really outstanding.  In this class Mark will show us how to construct and set up a miter box to facilitate cutting of pieces.  Students will learn how to design and layout segments for a small bowl.  Pieces will be cut, glued up and finally turned.  Since the class involves more joinery than turning, you need not have a lot of turning experience beyond a beginning bowl class.  The overall intent of the class is that everyone who attends will be able to successfully make segments, glue rings, and construct their own segmented bowls when they return to their own shop, if they choose to do so.
